Gintaras are renowned for their love of basketball and it seemed as though their passion for the game helped them hold off the Southwark Legends to win by 3 points (39-36) on Sunday 10th April.

From the first quarter, the game was in the hands of the Southwark Legends who dominated on both ends of the floor. Southwark’s Paul Yusuff attacked the basket well to finish with a solid 9 points in the first half, including a killer three to settle the score 22-14 going into the third period.

Southwark continued to control the game well until the Lithuanian stars began to pick up momentum and outscore their opponents by 17 points in the fourth quarter alone (4-21).

Finding his rhythm, Gintaras’ team captain, Alonas Peciulis, showed out with an impressive 16 points in under 6 minutes of play, as well as hitting a three in the final seconds of the game to secure the win for his team!
Game MVP, Peciulis, said, “It’s important to ignore the score sometimes and keep on playing. I believe I can win and if you believe this, you will use every minute on the clock to make the most of every play in order to finish the game successfully.”
