In line with Basketball England’s latest update on RTP guidelines that govern the safest protocol’s around competitive play in the COVID-19 era, the CBL today mandates that all attendees at every CBL game must wear masks/face coverings while at any CBL event, with immediate effect. This is to include all spectators, parents and non-playing team-members, table officials and general staff. This move is taken as a safety measure to keep players, coaches, officials and all attendees as safe as possible as nationwide concern grows around the rise in the Omicron variant of the corona virus, which suspended all basketball activity last season.

In addition, the league adopts, endorses and supports the NGB’s 3 simple principles for all CBL participants (in any capacity):

  1. If you feel unwell, or have any cold/flu symptoms, or those associated with COVID-19, STAY HOME and get tested.
  2. Wear a mask if spectating or attending a game in a non-playing or officiating capacity and follow strict hygiene guidance (wash your hands, sanitise at regular intervals), respect and employ social distancing measures wherever possible.
  3. Where possible avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Whenever this isn’t possible, be quick to sanitise your hands immediately. Wash/sanitise your hands after coming into contact with surfaces touched by many others (such as handles, handrails, light switches etc)

In all cases, players, coaches, officials and attendees are expected to complete a lateral flow test at least twice per week as a way of identifying asymptomatic carriers. You can order lateral flow tests by following this link.

Let’s keep each other as safe as possible by following the guidelines and respecting the health and well-being of all.

*PLEASE NOTE: ANY ATTENDEE WHO REFUSES TO WEAR A MASK/FACE COVERING UPON REQUEST FROM ANY CBL OFFICIAL OR APPOINTED STAFF MEMBER, WILL NOT BE PERMITTED INTO THE RESPECTIVE VENUE/EVENT*
