Access Up To £6,100 Per Year For Your Club While Empowering Your Young People To Do Great Things!
Upon a gracious invite from the London RMC (Regional Management Committee), the CBL helped co-ordinate a recent online funding seminar conducted by the London-based charity, Jack Petchey Foundation. Initially introduced to the fund by Basketball England Director Paul Mundy-Castle, clubs from across the league were walked through the background and purpose of the charity by JPF Grants Officer, Max Evans, and encouraged to apply for available funding up to the value of £6,100 per year, to support the current work so many of the clubs across the CBL currently deliver.
As part of the CBL’s commitment to helping build stronger, more sustainable community clubs who are ‘Built To Last’, CBL member clubs were invited to join the seminar for free and encouraged to take action in applying for the easily accessible financial help provided by the Foundation. In total, 14 clubs were able to access the seminar and valuable information delivered online, with many others who were unable to attend accessing the information post-event.
So all clubs may benefit from this opportunity here is a condensed summary of what was delivered in the seminar and the steps clubs need to take to now apply:
About Sir Jack Petchey
- Sir Jack Petchey CBE is a self-made multi-millionaire, born into a working class family in the East End in 1925.
- After serving in the Royal Navy he applied for management training in a solicitors firm but was told he would never make a businessman. Undeterred, Sir Jack used the £39 he was given from the Navy to buy a second hand car and started a taxi business.
- Though hard work, self-belief and determination, he was able to prove everyone wrong and built a multi-million-pound empire.
- Ever since amassing unprecedented success, Sir Jack has been deeply committed to inspiring and helping young people to believe in themselves and supporting individuals and organisations who share and nurture similar values.
About The Foundation
- JPF have invested over £150 million into young people since 1999.
- The Foundation utilises a programs and partnerships approach to ensure the investment reaches the young people who can most benefit from the help.
- JPF run an ‘Achievement Award Scheme’ that allows you to celebrate young people in your club. Awards are about doing your best, not being the best.
- The Achievement Award Scheme is currently running over 2,000 schools and youth organisations across London & Essex.
Reasons To Get Involved & Join The Achievement Award Scheme
- Celebration of Young People – The award scheme provides a well-publicised platform for you to recognise the progress, work and achievements of young people in your club.
- Funding – Once enrolled on the program, JPF provide grants to support your club up to £6,100 per year.
- Easy Access – The fund and organisation are designed to support and help the work you do and as such, have made accessing the funding far easier than many other grants and funding resources available to clubs.
Details About Running The Scheme At Your Club
- Once you’ve signed up as a partnered organisation and working JPF, your club is allocated a number of Achievement Awards each year – a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 9
- Your club will receive award material to present to your nominated award winner, such as certificates, pin badges and medals.
- All you need to do is nominate one of your young people for each award (remember, these awards are not competitively based – they are to recognise character-driven progress such as helping others, being a good role model, coping with adversity or displaying outstanding effort, as examples).
- All award winners are invited to a prestigious Regional Medallion event every year to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
- For every award winner you reward, you receive a £300 grant that must be spent on the young people on things like equipment, opportunities, trips, projects etc.
- 9 awards per year = £2,700 in grant funding back to your club.
- Additional funding is also available for the following program enhancers:
