Brent Ballers continue to be tough competition by snapping up a double win over the weekend by beating both Frenford Falcons (46-19) and Harrow Blackhawks (59-21).
The games were held at the Jewish Free School in Kingsbury, and are part of the Community Basketball League – London’s biggest grassroots league with over 1000 players representing 98 different teams.
First to take a loss were Falcons who were unable to stop Brent’s Matthew-David Tate who secured 8 out of his team’s 10 points in the first quarter to give Brent a double digit lead (10-0). This cushion extended into the second half of the game where a team effort from Eddie Lartey, Lawrence Ghatt, Calvin Baring and Salam Adebayo in the final quarter ensured Brent closed out the game successfully.
After a convincing win against Falcons, Brent continued to ball out against Harrow Blackhawks who struggled to overcome their opposition’s defence. Brent’s Fabio Mills refused to take his foot off the gas as he showed out in the first quarter with 8 points to give Brent the lead of 14-10.
Displaying great athleticism and leadership, Daniel Amah attacked the basket to finish with 10 points in the third which carried over in the final quarter to help Brent edge Hawks out by more than double.
Brent’s Mills, said, ‘It’s been a good weekend for my team and we will continue to work hard to make sure we keep on winning. I liked that our U14 team was coached by the U16 team because it builds our team chemistry and helps us get better.’
