Access2Sports continued their winning ways after beating Westside 32-27 on Sunday 22nd May 2016.
Islington’s star players, Jason Prince, finished with 9 points whilst team mate Dreyshun Brown chipped in with 10 points to help their team move closer to be crowned as this year’s CBL U14 Champions.
However, with the score settled at a 5 point difference, this relatively small margin speaks volumes of Westside’s tenacity and defensive skill, both in this game and throughout their season.
This proved particularly true in the second half, as Westside limited their opponents to only 11 points, allowing team mates’ Abiodun Adedo to score 6 points before both Joshua Pembele and Tyler Small each hit a three to shrink the gap with only minutes left in the game.
Westside’s talented point guard, Jihan Ybañez, continued to move the ball well, and although this may have put the pressure on A2S, Rio Murray’s inside presence plus big shots from Jason Duran ensured Islington held on to their lead.
Game MVP, Dreyshun Brown, said, “We expect people to go at us and so that motivates the team to play even harder. We can’t afford to slip now, especially as we get closer and closer to that championship title. As always, we’re going to keep improving and come ready for the CBL Playoff Semi Finals.”
