Islington’s basketball team, Activities4U, have one of the most talented teams in the Community Basketball League (CBL) and their under 12 team showed out once again, this time taking down Waltham Forest’s Eastside Eagles 22-15 on Sunday at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
Mateia Zibetti came out firing in the first half, netting 6 points before Jonah Schouburgh added to his team’s total with his sharp shooting skills to secure another 3 points to put A4U up 10-3 at the end of the second quarter.
Schouburgh continued dominating the game throughout the third period, playing great defence and making his free throws to keep his team in the lead (17-11).
Although Eastside didn’t back down, a team effort from Summer Eytle-Rock and Miles Sewell saw them score a bucket each to make sure Islington ran away with a 7 point victory.
“I love winning,” Zibetti said. “If you like basketball like me, the CBL is where you have to come because you get to play lots of games and get better as a player and as a team.’
