‘Towering Inferno’ Eduardo Andre led the Southwark Legends firing into the CBL U16 Finals with a dominant display against the resilient Hackney Kings in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Andre has been dominant all season long, stacking up 15.6ppg (22.3 TPGA) in ways teams have just not been able to stop. His combination of length, mobility and agility overwhelms teams at times, and so it was again, against the Kings in the biggest game of the season so far.
Southwark have a deep and talented squad but they were coming up against arguably the hardest working team in the division, in the ‘never-say-die’ Hackney Kings. The Kings have been a great advertisement for hustle, hard-work and teamwork all season long, behind the energetic and athletic play of Maliq Oke, who has also averaged 15.6ppg this season. However Andre was just too skilled, too big, too often for the Kings to contain as he exercised his dominance on the glass while also protecting the rim on the defensive end.
Hackney did all they could to fight back, even winning the last quarter by 6 points – but by that stage the game was out of reach and Southwark charged through to the claim their place in the finals.
Southwark will now represent the East in the CBL FINALS on 4th June, against the Brent Ballers. Tip off is scheduled for 1pm, at City Sport.
