Brent Ballers got back to winning ways in their second game of their under 14 CBL season with a 27-19 win over the Harrow Blackhawks on Sunday 20th November 2016. Brent were led in headling grabbing fashion by Dovie Billus who scored 24 of his teams 27 points in one of the best performances of the day. Billus cut through the paint and found the basket early and often enroute to his impressive total, showing a nice touch around the basket and also converting 71.4% of his free throws on 5 of 7 from the line. Understanding they had a ‘hot hand’ on their team, Billus’ team mates continued to feed him the ball throughout the game and he continued to deliver.
Head coach Julius Joseph was pleased with the win but not for the reasons you might expect: “The boys won the game and that’s all well and good, but I’m most proud of how they were able to come together quickly after the loss to Kensington and Chelsea and show resiliency and trust in each other to put in their best effort and recognise Dovie had it going and supported him throughout the game”.
