Turkish basketball legend, Kerem Gonlum, has signed up to join the CBL for the new 2022-23 season via his ‘KG12 Basketball Academy‘. The 6’11” former Euroleague star has relocated to London and chosen to give back a wealth of basketball and life experiences to the next generation through his KG12 program.
Gonlum has enjoyed a star-studded career, playing in multiple FIBA international competitions against NBA icons such as Kevin Durant, Lebron James, Russell Westbrook, Dwayne Wade and Tim Duncan, to name but a few. He was once recruited by San Antonio Spurs legend Greg Popovich to join the NBA Champions, however was contractually obligated to stay in Europe, where he starred for both Fenerbache and Adadolu Efes in a career that spanned 15 years at the highest level in Europe.
The Turkish International is among the all-time leaders in rebounding in the Euroleague and widely regarded as one of the best Turkish big men of all time.
With his London-based KG12 Basketball Academy, Gonlum aims to pass on ‘the gift of the game’ to the next generation, running coaching sessions across London where young players can sign up to be coached by a legend and join one of the 6 youth teams he is managing in the CBL this season.
KG12 feature teams at the 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U levels and welcome boys and girls of all abilities to get involved, learning from a legend.
