The Haringey Hawks are a deep and talented team who did well to overcome the quick and athletic Southwark Legends to win 55-28 and advance to the next stage of defending their title in the CBL Playoff Final.
The start of the game was close as Southwark’s Peter Akinyede, Tarick Anderson and Lamin Dumbaya came out sinking threes to give their team the lead within the first minutes of the game. However, this lead was short lived when Haringey’s S. Kapsloas, M. Sannicoba, and Cameron Morris went on a run to rack up 19 points collectively and finish the first quarter in front (19-10).
Southwark took charge on the defensive end, denying the Hawks access to the basket which limited them to just 9 points in the second period. Foul trouble saw both teams go to the line, and although Southwarks’ Tarick Anderson and Elijah Ilo made their shots, Haringey also remained efficient to lead by double (28-14) going into the third.
The second half was exciting throughout as both teams stayed competitive with their focus firmly on the win.
Southwark’s sharp shooter, Tarick Anderson, continued to hurt the Hawks from outside, knocking down threes to keep his team in the game.
But the final quarter displayed Haringey’s experience and determination as M. Sannicoba went off to nail 6 points, whilst Cameron Morris and A.Vella added 4 baskets each to close out the game successfully.
Hawks’ S. Kapsloas finished the game with an impressive 24 points, whilst team mates Cameron Morris had 16 points, and M. Sannicoba with 11 points to all send their team to the finals once again.
