After a successful season in the Community Basketball League (CBL) last year, Haringey have come out defending their title as both Haringey Hawks and Haringey Angels won both their games this weekend at the Copper Box Arena, Olympic Park.

Haringey Angels’ U16 team meant business when they went head to head against Red Ravens, pulling away with a convincing win of 62-14. Angels’ MVP, Teresa Da Silva, worked hard throughout the game to secure herself a solid 6 points.

“I’m glad my performance awarded me the MVP title, but today’s win was down to a team effort,” Da Silva said. “We are proof that hard work pays off and so we’re happy with our effort today.”

Angels’ success was followed by Haringey Hawks’ U18 team who definitely came out to defend their title after an impressive season last year. Team member Elliot Quail displayed fantastic leadership, whilst game MVP Ramon Dawkins attacked the basket to finish with 12 points.

Hawks’ star, Dawkins, said, “We really enjoy playing in the CBL. We’ve got off to a good start in the league and we plan on finishing strong again to keep our title.”

Both teams play in the CBL run by the London School of Basketball (LSB) in partnership with Reach and Teach. For more information, please contact lwilliams@reachandteach.co.uk
