The Kennington Generals handled business last Sunday when they edged out the talented Access2Sports by 3 points to overcome with a runaway victory of 45-42 and advance to the CBL Playoff Semi Final happening this weekend.
The first half saw Kennington storm into the lead with Ryan Delos-Reyes, Ade Adebayo and Travis Edwards all sinking threes to put their team in front 22-18 going into the third period.
However, Access2Sports soon tightened up on the defensive end, allowing Jason Prince to find his way to the basket and bank 10 points, whilst Dreyshun Brown and J. Johnson both added 4 points each to cause the lead to change hands 35-39.
The final quarter caught the attention of everyone watching as both Kennington and A2S put on a great performance with each team hungry to make this year’s CBL Playoff Final.
With one minute left on the clock, A2S’s J.Johnson managed to squeeze in one last three to sustain Islington’s lead (35-42).
However, Kennington refused to crack under the pressure as Rhys Sundimalt kept his cool and controlled the game well, pitching in 4 crucial points before team mates’, Andrew Lopez, added 4 points and Ade Adebayo with 2, to close out the game triumphantly.
Recognised for their composure, Ade Adebayo and Rhys Sundimalt were named co-MVP for what proved to be a thrilling CBL Playoff QF game.
Rhys Sundimalt, said, “That game was really competitive and tested us throughout. It’s always important to stay composed and play through fouls.”
