The Kennington Generals handed North West Jazz a tough loss of 48-10 after both teams went head to head in the CBL U25 Playoff Semi Final on Sunday 29th May 2016.
The Kennington Generals were without Gilles Louthe and Andy Ehate due to injury in their semi final game against Northwest Jazz, but the team was not phased and used it as an opportunity for some of the U18s to step up.
Matthew Allman was responsible for most of the damage in the first half, netting 9 points whilst team mates’ Christi Kambi and Kwame Boatey both chipped in with 4 baskets each to help push Kennington in front (20-4) by the end of the second period.
The starters created some good opportunities to score but the Jazz wouldn’t make it easy. Although the Generals led 12-2 after 5 minutes of play, they didn’t quite have control of the game until Kwame Boatey decided take charge on both ends of the floor with his super quickness, creating baskets for his team mates and getting steals like a true General.
Both Allman and Dami Aresa continued to control the game well, each dominating inside to add a further 8 points before Ade Adebayo and Boatey finished the game on a high, sinking threes to secure the W.
Game MVP, Kwame Boatey, said, “I love this game! It feels good to win and make the finals. We’ve worked hard all year and so we deserve to be within reach of the championship. As always, we’ll work on our strengths and weakness to come ready for the final!”
