Red Ravens put their stamp on the Community Basketball League (CBL) after making an incredible come back to beat Kensington & Chelsea Knights by more than double to close out the game 36-16 on Sunday 31st January 2016.
The last time the two teams faced each other, K&C Knights snapped up the game by one point in overtime and so Ravens made sure to come out firing to secure the win this weekend.
Ravens were ready to play from the start with Marwa Benaichouche and Julia Szymczyk both knocking down threes to give their team a 6 point cushion at the end of the half (20-14).
Tia Castillano also came to play, dominating the third quarter to sink a three whilst Precious Anekwe took care of the defence to prevent K&C Knights from scoring anything at all.
The girls continued to play fantastic team basketball and a joint effort from everyone in the final minutes ensured Ravens added to their score to come away victorious.
Ravens’ Marwa Benaichouche, said, “We had to prove ourselves today and so I’m glad we got the win. This is why I love basketball because it’s a great platform to prove that your hard work and resilience pays off.”
