The Kennington Generals were close to overcoming the Haringey Sixers on Sunday 15th January 2017, but lost out by 3 points in the end as Sixers stole the game 55-52 to bag themselves another win in the U23 Division.
Sixers were led by usual suspect, Javel Small the CBL’s current leading scorer at 29ppg, who outscored everyone on court to finish with another 28 points haul. Small has been an unstoppable force for the Sixers this season scoring from all angles and seemingly able to get his shot off whenever he likes. Not afraid of the long ball, Small has also been shooting a torrid 44% from the land of plenty with many of his 3’s coming from beyond NBA distance. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented players across the city in his age group and clearly capable of playing at the next level.
Between Small and Kalil Baro who also finished in double figures with 13 points, Sixers went in with a 34-23 lead at the end of the half.
However, the Kennington Generals bounced back in the third with resilience, led by Jason Okosi (18) and Wale Oladipupo (16), whilst Darnel Sharpe-Kelly (7) went to work on defense to limit Sixers to just 6 points in the quarter.
The Generals fight back was, however, short-lived as Sixers Ayo Awojobi joined Small and Baro in extinguishing the Generals light in the last minute of the game with a couple of crucial baskets that gave Haringey the narrow 3 point win.
