For their first season in the CBL, Westside are well on their way to making a name for themselves after overcoming the Barnet East Giants 45-36 to now take on the talented Activities4U in the CBL U12 Playoff Final.
Barnet’s sharpshooter, Asaru Wiliams-Henry, went out on a high finishing with a solid 18 points whilst Jay Des Nerves chipped in with 15 points to keep their team in the game.
Although Barnet begun as the dominant team to finish the first quarter in front 7-12, Westside soon took over to ensure they held on to the lead throughout the game.
Westside’s CJ Merino displayed fantastic athleticism and leadership, keeping his team in check whilst getting to the basket to rack up 14 points overall.
Between Merino, Jermaine Wilson, and the Towlah brothers, Westside continued their winning ways in order to edge out Barnet and carry on with their mission towards winning it all.
They have proven themselves worthy of the reward, but will they be able to conquer Activities4U to be crowned champions?
Game MVP, CJ Merino, said, “It means a lot to reach the Final given that it’s our first time playing in the CBL. We know how hard we’ve worked and to win would give us the confidence to continue playing, as well as play up into the different age divisions. We like competition so we look forward to seeing A4U soon!”
